Born in England, Tim Hale lives and works in Bordeaux. After graduating from London’s Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design, he pursues his passion for art, travelling with sketchbooks to Italy, Greece and Spain, then to New York, Baltimore, Washington, the Caribbean and Brazil. He experiments with different techniques and materials (oil paints, pastels, crayons and ink) in a free figurative way. In London, he visits the artist Francis Bacon’s studio and photographs the Polish-born British expressionist painter Feliks Topolski in his workplace. Hale has exhibited at the Royal Academy and Buckingham Gallery in London, in Bordeaux and in Nice where he won the Academy Prize for Painting and Sculpture.
